PAST/BIO: Maya was born to a family line that had forsaken her family. With her father being in the line of the Gaunts, Slytherin's line was kept alive through him, while Voldemort lost his right to claim Lordship through his half-blood status. But shortly after her birth, Voldemort slaughtered her family and destroyed the house, leaving her, under a year old, orphaned. Found and nourished back to health, she wound up in an orphanage, where she was later adopted by an American couple, and brought to the states to be raised. At the age of 14, she started her youtube career, uploading her metal videos, gaming, and vlogs of her life. She never uploaded her house, not wanting to be seen as a 'rich girl wanting an easy job', as her parents house was massive, described by people as more of a mansion. She received a letter from Dumbledore about going to Hogwarts, as Dumbledore had the idea to keep an eye on the last of the Gaunts. She ignored his request, and instead, sent for her books, studying up on her own, finding out she had an account with a wizarding bank.

After getting a portkey, and getting back, she studied on her own, before realizing there was only so much she could do until she had people who knew the subject well could help her. Finally sending her acceptance to go, she called her parents, telling them about the school, but conveniently forgot telling them it was a magical school. But she went off to stay in an inn while she waited, asking her guide, Professor Burbage, about magical camcorders.

By the time school was ready to start, she had her stuff, her outfits, and her recording eye.
